Recently, I finished the book, Know What You’re FOR by Jeff Henderson. This book was written for business strategies but coming from a place, and a heart, of strong faith. The author is a businessman, a marketer and a pastor. Henderson shares how the church can learn from business, how business can learn from Christ’s example to focus on people and the message rather than the almighty dollar.
As the church, people tend to know what we are against more than what we are for. We get stuck in routine, our comfort levels, likes/dislikes, worship styles & if we liked that Sunday’s message or not. In recent months, we have lost many of our comfort levels and our regular routines, especially with church. It is different from anything we have ever experienced. Going to church online or coming into a sparsely attended Family Life Center is different. I’m right there with you. It’s been hard. But, it has been amazing to see all that we have learned in the last 5 months.
So now that life is different, how are you growing in your faith? We need to accept that life is different and that will not stop the saving message of Jesus Christ or the impact that it has on your life today. HIS message remains the same, even though the channels to deliver it have changed.
What are you reading? What are you listening to? Are you praying and taking time each day to be thankful? Are you connecting to other believers and being an inspiration to strangers? What are you for? What do you want to be known for?
Are you growing?
If you are not growing in your faith, or feel as though inspiration was left back in February, then do something about it. Talk to someone. Read a book. Take a walk. Find a mentor. See a person who might need help. I find that the quickest way for me to become inspired is to open my eyes to a need. And those are certainly all around us.
Ephesians 3:16-21 (NLT)
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
Henderson tells us, “Keep asking, keep dreaming, keep believing. Remain inspired.” God tells us that He has a mighty power at work within us. Wow. Re-read the words above from Ephesians, mediate on them today. Ask God how to keep you asking, dreaming and believing. Remain inspired.
