The Week That Changed the World

Mike Bill, Senior Pastor
Palm Sunday, April 6, 2020

The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:   “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.” At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.  (John 10:12-16)
This is the “week that changed the world” where the natural world was invaded by the SUPERNATURAL. It has always been a big week in the life of the Christian church…and this year is no different.
Experience Easter: One of the ways we are reflecting, learning, and worshipping this week is through an interactive and experiential activity. Each day, you will be invited to collect an item that pertains to the cross and resurrection. You are invited to do this in families or as individuals. Spend some time discussing each item. Take time to find and collect an item. Display it somewhere in your home (mantle, shelf, countertop) for the week. We will refer to all of the items as part of our Easter service.  Today’s item is not like the others…it is not quite as tangible, but equally significant.  Today’s item is:  A Song. There are so many songs that speak about the cross and the resurrection. Pick one. Center in on a phrase or a verse. Then I want to invite you to share it with someone or on our Facebook page. Encourage someone else today!
