4 Ways to Prioritize Your Personal Devotions

This past Sunday, we started a new series entitled “Live it Well:  3 Essential Behaviors you’ll never regret.”  The first behavior was labeled “The Best Minutes of your Day.”  Numerous studies and surveys have concluded that daily time with God and in His word are the number 1 predictor of a growing Christian.  Whether you call this time “devotions,” “time with Jesus,” “quiet time” or something else, we cannot underestimate it’s importance.

Yet studies also tell us that only 1 in 5 Christians are actually doing it!  We want to, we see the need to, we even plan to…but life happens and we find this habit choked out of our schedules.

We ended Sunday message with a “30 Day Challenge” to grow your devotional life- Evaluate where you are, Build habits into your day & Try it out if this is a new concept for you.
The key is to prioritize this inside of our lives!
  1. Set the time.
  2. Find your place.
  3. Resource yourself.
  4. Connect with God!

I wanted to write and offer you some practical helps.  First, we have several books and resources in the church office.  Stop by, call, or email…we would love to help!

Second, there are phenomenal resources available online.  Most of these also have apps for iphones and androids as well. You Version Bible app- Reading plans, easy access to scripture.  It will even read it aloud to you in the car! Bible Gateway - Access to scripture and helps for understanding and applying it. Crosswalk Daily -devotional plans by a variety of authors.
Our Daily Bread-  Many have used the paper version of this…also available online and as an app
She Reads Truth -  Excellent resource for ladies.  Jesus Calling - Based on the popular devotional book; new writings available as well.  There are tons of other resources out there as well.
