Be the Bright Spot

By Eddie Keith
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.  Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.  And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
Rejoice always, pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-18
Live in peace with each other...always strive to do what is good for each other...be patient with everyone. Paul’s written word is easy enough to read. We understand the words and the meaning behind them. It’s direct and to the point. However, at times, it is extremely difficult to follow.
Some days we just aren’t in the mood. It’s been a long day, we are tired, had a bad day or are just in a bad state of mind. There are days we need to check ourselves at the door. I believe that is where verses above come into play.
On the days we are tired… pray continually.
On the bad mood days… find the joy and rejoice always.
When we are in a bad state of mind… give thanks to God for what we have been given.
Maybe all you have to give to someone is a half-hearted smile and a thank you for something they did…. Some days that is ok, but continue to rejoice, pray and thank God.
The rest will come. Try it today. Thank someone for their work… You may be the bright spot of their day.
