Something that has been on my heart recently has been the idea of community. Throughout this sermon series, we continue to look at how we can do life together. In essence, how do we build into the unity in community? The hardest part about doing life together is we are bound to have friction with one another. The apostille Paul understood the friction that can be caused from life together. When addressing the church in Ephesus, Paul writes,
“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:1-6 NIV).
Friction can be ok if we learn as Paul says to bear with one another through humility, gentility and patience. Keeping the lines of communication open through honest conversations done in love. We are, as Christians, one body in Jesus Christ through one Spirit in God the Father.
Throughout this week, I hope that you can find the unity in community whether that be through forgiveness, encouragement or finding ways to serve the one anothers in our lives.
Bear with one another my friends.
