It’s a brand new day! In a brand new year. What is to come we can never know. We can only be sure that “the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him”” (Lamentation 3:22-24 ESV).
There are so many things in the year past that have derailed our attention, service, and even at times faith. It may have been a tough year for you and we are uncertain as to what may come. I read somewhere that today is the beginning of a blank 365 page book and that we should write a great story. Think about that for just a minute. The book that is our life in 2021 hasn’t been written yet. It is our choice as to what goes in the book. Joshua, when speaking to the Israelite people said this, “then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
As we begin a new chapter in a new book, to whom is your hope in? Who will you choose to serve this day?
