Sharon Winter

Nursery School Director

I have two great passions in my life: my love for Jesus and my love for children. After receiving my BA in Kindergarten-Primary Education from Glassboro State College (presently Rowan University), God granted me the most wonderful privilege of combining those passions into a lifelong ministry. I have been the director of St. John’s Christian Nursery School for the past 10 years, having been St. John’s Children’s Pastor for 7 years previously. I was also the director of the Children’s Garden Christian PreSchool in Williamstown for 10 years, following a 9 year teaching career in the City of Camden. God has provided me opportunities to share Jesus with His little ones in Mexico, Bahamas, Navajo Nation, and Ghana, Africa, as well as in several cities in the USA.

On a personal note, my husband, John and I were high school sweethearts and have shared an amazing life journey together for the past 40+ years. We have 4 children and 6 amazing grandchildren that help keep us young!

Andrea targonski

Children's MInistry Coordinator

As a lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, I am thrilled to be serving here as the Children’s Ministry Director. I received my BA in Communications from Rowan University and previously worked in corporate marketing and business development before becoming a stay-at-home mom. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 12 at a middle school youth event and as the mother of two young children, I have a passion for making a difference in the eternal salvation of kids. With my dear friend Angie, I co-direct our Vacation Bible School, which reaches approximately 250 kids from St. John’s and the community and enlists the help of over 100 volunteers. In my spare time, I love to sing, travel to my favorite place, Walt Disney World, and spend time with my favorite sax player, Ed, and our kids, Roy and Grace. My favorite scripture verse is Jer. 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Dorena Smith

Office Manager

For me, coming to St. John’s was like coming home to family. It has been a joy to finally meet in person the people I have heard so much about and now have the opportunity to work and worship side by side with. I feel very blessed to be serving in the church office, whether answering the phone, sending out newsletters, or helping with the various activities taking place in the church. It is also extremely meaningful to be working side by side with Ron here in the church serving the Lord and the people of St. John’s. After teaching in the classroom for the past 33 years, it has been a nice change of pace and another avenue where the Lord can use my leadership and organizational skills. An added bonus is being right across the hall from the Nursery School. I am very thankful and blessed to be part of such a vibrant body of believers!

Dorena and her husband Ron have been married for 33 years. This past year was a busy one as both of their daughters were married – Laura to Frank Wood, and Katie to Jonathan Grabau.
